Operation Christmas Child

Come join the party as we pack 100 boxes for children in need all around the world.  Operation Christmas Child, a program of samaritanspurse.org, provides the first gift many children have ever received! The treasures and personal letters inside communicate that someone cares for them and give them an opportunity to experience the love of God.

Stock the shelves at Chesterfield County’s local food pantry.  Pick up all donated non-perishable items from New Life and transport them to the food pantry.  Once there, you will be able to stock the pantry.

Richmond Justice Initiative (RJI) is a non-profit, faith-based organization of volunteers who use their gifts and talents in the battle against human trafficking.  Founded in 2009, RJI has been mobilizing and educating communities on the issue of human trafficking in Virginia and most importantly, how they can take action and affect change. 

Volunteers will be breaking down empty food trays, tables/chairs, decorations, etc as they reset the Veritas venue back to it's original format.

Build raised plant beds and fences for the community garden.  Not only does Feed23112 offer a food pantry for residents of Chesterfield County, but they have now leased land to create a community garden.  The fresh vegetables from this garden will supplement the non-perishable items available at the food pantry.

Participate in a Fall Clean Up inside the shelter, and have lunch with the families.  Since 1979, this organization has been focused on helping end homelessness in individuals, families, and veterans through the work they do in their shelters and programs.

Sole Hope

Host a party in your home!  Invite your family, friends, and neighbors into your home to make shoe patterns through the Sole Hope project.  Sole Hope is an organization that is offering HOPE, healthier lives, and freedom from foot-related diseases through education, jobs, and medical relief to those in Uganda, Africa.  The patterns then will be sent to a shoemaker in Africa. 

Items needed at Sole Hope Parties include: 

  • Old Blue Jeans – Folks can donate them from their closets or purchase a very cheap pair from Goodwill!
  • Fabric scissors (VERY IMPORTANT)
  • Large Safety pins
  • Black Sharpie Markers
  • Plastic – items such as milk jugs, thin plastic folders, laundry detergent bottles, 2 liter soda bottles, etc.

Everyone (5 years old and up) is invited to kick off The BIG Serve with Stop Hunger Now, a family friendly meal packaging program. This is a fun, hands- on international mission project where volunteers work in an assembly line to package high protein, vitamin rich meals. On Friday night, 12,096 meals will be packed and your help is needed! There are opportunities to set up, package and clean up from 5:50pm - 10:00pm. 

Friday, November 4: 8:30 to 10pm - 6-8 people breakdown of the event. This includes assistance in the reloading of the truck after the event. Supplies can weigh up to 50 lbs. Not everything will be heavy but we do need folks who can lift up to 50lbs.
