Mrs. Teresa's Home

Today was an interesting day. The Lord blessed us with rain, helping us stay cool in this warm weather. However, it made working on our projects difficult. We started working at our second site today, Mrs. Teresa's home.

Mrs. Teresa is blind and lives on her own. She really enjoyed talking with all of us and even had candy treats for everyone. Her hospitality is top notch! Even though she doesn't have much, she's always putting others first.

We were only able to install one window due to the on-again, off-again, on-again, off-again downpour! (click on an image to see it larger)

Mr. Marshall's Home

Our first day of work is at Mr. Marshall's home, one of the two sites we will be visiting this week.

The youngest of 11 kids, Mr Marshall grew up right around the corner. He has lived here with his two dogs, that he loves very much, for 6 months. The Henderson Settlement has provided a new Front deck and new flooring inside. We are installing some much needed insulation and siding as this past winter was very difficult for him due to the cold.

After we received some much needed instructions on how to install the insulation and siding, began working together as a well oiled machine.

We got a lot done before lunch. At the moment it's raining but as soon as it stops we will be heading back to work.

End Of Day One

Team Henderson Assemble! - That's all of us!

We arrived this evening with grateful hearts for your prayers for safe travel! Thank you and keep praying for safety all week long!

As you can see from the video, not only did our luggage arrive, but all the wonderful donations you sent arrived as well! We can't wait to see the beautiful smiles on the faces of those who will receive the school supplies, sports equipment and baby supplies! See how much work you have already done, even before we could get to work!

After arriving, the Henderson staff oriented us to the camp and shared a brief devotion as we look forward to begin our work on two sites tomorrow:

And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. - Romans 5:5

Did you know you are a part of building hope? Isn't it great to work together as a team?!

As the week progresses, we are trying to notice where we see God each day and encourage you to do the same. This is just one way we are striving to "keep our eyes always on the Lord (Psalm 16:8)." Another way is to join us in memorizing our theme verse for the week:

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" - Isaiah 52:7

Did you know you have beautiful feet! Thank you for the ways you are bringing good news!

Blessings in Christ,

Pastor Mike

Rest Stop

We had a great break at the Troutville rest stop where we enjoyed a delicious lunch in God's great outdoors.
